My New Years Skin Care Resolutions: 8 Habits to Transform Your Skin

As the new year approaches, many of us are thinking about our resolutions and how we can make positive changes in our lives. If healthy, radiant skin is one of your goals for the new year, here are 8 habits to incorporate into your skin care routine:

  1. "Double cleanse" every evening. One of the most important habits for maintaining healthy, radiant skin is to remove all traces of makeup, dirt, and oil from your skin before bed. To do this, try "double cleansing" every evening by first using a makeup remover or oil-based cleanser to remove your makeup, then following up with a gentle, water-based cleanser to remove any remaining impurities.

  2. Use a toner after cleansing. Toner is often an underrated step in a skin care routine, but it can actually offer a wide range of benefits for the skin. It can help to remove any remaining traces of dirt and oil, tighten and firm the skin, balance the pH of the skin, and reduce the appearance of pores. So make sure to include a toner in your skin care routine.

  3. Apply a serum before moisturizing. Serums are concentrated, highly-effective skin care products that can provide a wide range of benefits for the skin. Look for a serum that is formulated with ingredients that target your specific skin concerns, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, or dehydrated skin. Apply the serum to your face and neck before moisturizing to help your skin absorb the benefits of the serum.

  4. Use a facial oil. Facial oils can provide a wide range of benefits for the skin, including hydration, nourishment, and protection. Look for a facial oil that is formulated with ingredients that are suitable for your skin type and concerns. You can use a facial oil in place of your moisturizer, or you can mix a few drops of oil into your moisturizer for an added boost of hydration.
  5. Exfoliate regularly. Exfoliating your skin can help to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and improve the texture of the skin. There are two main types of exfoliants: physical exfoliants, which use scrubbing particles to buff away dead skin cells, and chemical exfoliants, which use ingredients like alpha-hydroxy acids or beta-hydroxy acids to dissolve dead skin cells. Choose an exfoliant that is suitable for your skin type and concerns, and use it regularly to keep your skin looking healthy and radiant.

By incorporating these habits into your skin care routine, you can transform your skin in the new year and enjoy healthy, radiant skin all year round.
